Dr. Tahta comes to The International Heart Institute of Montana from Montreal, Canada where he attended medical school at McGill University. In 1993, after obtaining his MD degree, he continued on at McGill for his residency in General Surgery followed by his residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Tahta completed his training in June 1999, becoming a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in Canada. With a particular interest in heart valve surgery, Dr. Tahta was drawn to the IHI for additional experience, and accepted a position as Clinical Fellow for 1999-2000 to fulfill clinical research in mitral and tricuspid valve repair. He then joined the practice and currently focuses on valve conservation techniques and homograft/autograft replacement techniques.
